Chief Executive Officer
Ed Mallen has over 25 years of professional management experience in software and systems. He started his career at IBM. As vice president of US sales at Interleaf he was part of the team that built the company to $100 million in sales, an IPO and subsequent financings. As vice president of software products for Xerox Imaging Systems he led the marketing and development of TextBridge, which became the premiere OCR product in the world. He joined Xionics as an executive vice president at an early stage, and helped grow the company to $40 million in sales, building the sales, support, product management and marketing teams that positioned Xionics for a successful IPO. As president and CEO of Profile Systems he led the company’s success in pursuing vertical markets and solutions, leading to acquisition by Comergent Technologies, where he became a Senior Vice President. He was most recently CEO of OzVision, a leading supplier of video services for the security industry. A graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, he is a member of the board of eCopy.
President and Chief Operating Officer
Gary has over 25 years of professional management experience in software, systems and early stage companies. He is responsible for leading the company’s marketing strategy, sales programs, and setting product strategy and direction. He has an established track record of conceiving, creating and leading innovation in early stage companies that result in accelerated sales and valuation growth. Before TimeTrade, Gary was CEO of Cognio (acquired by Cisco) where he pioneered the field of intelligent spectrum management and led development of an Intelligent Spectrum Management plaform now used in all Cisco WiFi products. Prior to that, Gary was VP of marketing and business development at Xionics (acquired by Zoran) where he identified the market, then developed and launched the digital document processing software used in most copiers and laser printers in the world. Earlier Gary was co-founder of SecureMedia (acquired by Google), one of the first DRM systems for online content. Gary started his career in Hewlett-Packard’s software business in Silicon Valley. Gary holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Vice President of Client Services
Bill Bohen is Vice President of Client Services for TimeTrade Systems, Inc. Bill has over 25 years of experience in the development and implementation of enterprise software. Before joining TimeTrade, Bill was Vice President of Client Services at EasyAsk, a division of Progress Software Corporation. EasyAsk is leader in the Enterprise BI and eCommerce search markets. In his 7 years at EasyAsk, Bill led the growth of the Services organization, leading numerous noteworthy implementations consisting of both OEM and direct channel Fortune 1000 clients. EasyAsk was acquired by Progress Software in 2005. Prior to EasyAsk, Bill was VP of Professional Services at Oberon, a leading provider of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) software. Bill presided over Oberon’s implementation services through the acquisition of Oberon by OnDisplay in 2000. Prior to joining Oberon, Bill managed the rapid growth of Clarify’s Eastern Region Professional Services where he was responsible for all consulting and training services. Bill began his career at Digital Equipment Corporation where he held engineering and management positions. Bill holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Clark University.
Vice President of Finance
Cindy Crowley is Vice President of Finance for TimeTrade Systems, Inc. She is a results-driven financial executive offering more than 20 years of experience and success in driving profit improvement, leading business growth and establishing and scaling operations in emerging growth companies. Cindy’s core expertise includes optimizing cash flow, improving profit, building processes and infrastructure to facilitate growth, managing accounting operations and financial planning. Prior to joining TimeTrade, Cindy worked for Venture Enterprise Advisors, specializing in interim financial and accounting management, restructuring and acquisition services. Cindy has also held the position of Director of Finance / Controller at high tech companies including AstralPoint Communications, Alcatel, Unisphere Solutions, Argon Networks, Bay Networks and Wellfleet Communications. Cindy holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MBA from Nichols College.
Vice President of Development
Brian Kelly is Vice President of Development for TimeTrade Systems, Inc. Brian has spent 15 years building software for technology companies. He began his career with IONA Technologies. While at IONA he led the development of a number of features within their distributed systems technology and later managed the international development of IONA’s Orbix and Artix integration products, a $60 million line of business. After IONA’s acquisition by Progress Software, he additionally managed the development of the Sonic C++/.NET high-performance messaging and integration products. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing from the Institute of Technology in Tallaght, Ireland.
Co-Founder and Chief Technologist
John Loring is one of the original founders of TimeTrade Systems, Inc., and serves as Chief Technologist. John has 20 years of hands-on experience managing the development of computer hardware and software products ranging from microcontroller firmware to enterprise-wide client server and internet applications. Prior to TimeTrade, John spent 13 years at Datawatch Corporation, having been hired as a programmer early in that company’s development. At Datawatch, he went on to become a Product Manager, Director of Systems Engineering, Vice President of Information Technology and Vice President of Software Development. With a strong background in Internet protocols and network technology, he led that company through the transition to the Internet of its internal systems and products. After receiving his BA in Mass Communications from the University of Massachusetts, Loring’s first career was in the broadcasting industry, where he held a variety of technical and management positions.
Vice President of Marketing
Mike Puglia is Vice President of Marketing for TimeTrade where he is responsible for managing and executing product, marketing, program and communications strategy to drive sales, revenues and adoption. Mike brings over 20 years of marketing and technical management experience to his role at TimeTrade. Mike joined TimeTrade from Salesforce.com, the world’s leading CRM and enterprise cloud computing vendor, where he led the integration of real-time collaboration technologies into Salesforce’s Chatter Social Enterprise platform. Prior to his role at Salesforce, Mike was VP of Marketing at Dimdim, a provider of cloud-based collaboration and web conferencing capabilities which was acquired by Salesforce in 2010. Earlier in his career, Mike has served in successive executive positions in marketing, product marketing and product management for computer software and computer security companies including Veracode, Lumignet Technologies (acquired by BeyondTrust) and Bluesocket (acquired by ADTRAN). Mike holds a BSEE from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from the Carroll Graduate School of Management at Boston College.
Chief Security Officer
Rupert Schmidtberg has over 25 years of technical and business leadership experience in high technology. He has a passion for building successful technology companies and has helped to do that at four venture-backed startups. Most recently, Rupert was General Manager and CTO at Sensitech where he was part of the team responsible for 10X growth over 9 years and a subsequent acquisition by UTC/Carrier Corporation. Prior to Sensitech, Rupert held vice president of engineering, market development and product development roles at Vibrint Technologies, MacNeal-Schendler Corporation and Aries Technology respectively. He has been awarded several software and hardware patents. Rupert holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada and he is a member of the technical advisory board of Ascent Venture Partners.
